ResourcesWA was contacted by Tier 1 miner, BHP to assist with their knowledge development around the Australian Renewable Fuels market and its constraints and opportunities.
Understanding that fossil diesel emissions are a significant contributor to their carbon emissions, the report supported BHP to assess the advantages and disadvantages of replacing traditional mineral diesels (fossil fuels) with renewable fuels sourced within Australia.
The study further assessed the industry aspects of Australian sourced renewable fuels such as: current, and future renewable fuel producers, renewable fuel feedstocks, renewable fuel pricing mechanisms, feedstock pricing and included some recommendations for BHP’s rollout strategy.
Results of the ResourcesWA study have assisted BHP with the knowledge of the Australian renewable fuel landscape as an input into potential solutions to achieve their goal of net zero operational emissions by 2050.
