ResourcesWA is assisting Resolute Mining Limited, an ASX listed diversified gold producer, explorer and developer, in developing a long-term energy supply solution for the Syama Gold Mine in southern Mali.
In operation as an open cut mine since commission in 2009, Syama is Resolute’s largest operation with a mine life extending to 2028 and beyond. Future expansion plans for an underground operation and the current isolation of the mine from the Mali national power network have prompted Resolute to consider alternative power solutions for the long-term operational needs of Syama. Powered by a series of on-site diesel generators, Resolute is considering alternatives to diesel generation to meet the demand increase.
ResourcesWA have been engaged to identify and appoint co-sponsors to assist in project development, financing, construction, operations and maintenance of the power infrastructure. Currently in the pre-selection phase of the project, we are reviewing potential partners and stringently testing the market regarding the financial, technical and commercial optimisation of Syama’s power needs.
Our robust understanding of the configuration and energy management requirements of Syama enables us to identify the lowest cost solution under viable development concepts. Our overall aim is to supply a complete secured power no CAPEX solution through refinement of the project details, technical solution, developer and EPC provider costs to deliver an optimal outcome for our client and the Mali government.
